This season Symetria is inspired by the lands that shape our existence. Being an island, our lifestyle/culture is surrounded by and shaped by water – wai – in our indigenous Māori tongue. An inbuilt respect for water is part of the everyday. It surrounds us, it protects us, it calms us and it invigorates us, as it transforms from reflective tranquil ponds to shattering strength and crashing power as oceans are interrupted by our coastlines.
