Elegnano is a Belgian-based footwear label for women, combining high tech and high heels. Elegance and design are brought together with quality and innovation. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, is the spirit of Elegnano, its employees, and customers. Although produced with soft and delicate lamb leather, the shoes are completely water- and dirt repellant, thanks to nanotechnology. Nanotechnology, the top-notch of the science and tech industries is integrated in the footwear in an invisible and harmonic manner, enhancing quality and comfort. Elegnanos are made in the Marche in Italy, one of the world’s leading centers for high-end footwear production.
The theme of the Elegnano collections is the lotus flower. This timelessly gracious flower stays impeccable and beautiful in all circumstances. Its shape is organic and geometrical at the same time, as are the designs of the heels. The contrasting and rather hard color scheme opposes the soft characteristics of the nature-inspired design, with flowing lines and shapes. All designs are asymmetrical and organically shape around the foot. IN 2019, THE BRAND ALSO LAUNCHED ITS FIRST CAPSULE COLLECTION FOR MEN.
The nanotechnology is based on the “lotus-effect”, borrowed from the lotus flower. Intertwined with the fibers of the leather a structure of nanosize pillars is created on the surface of the shoes. They are invisible and you don’t feel them, but they protect the leather from getting damaged by water and dirt.
Katrien Herdewyn is the founder of Elegnano. Years of study and passion for both, shoes and nanotechnology, made her take the plunge and start the footwear label. With success. The brand was founded in 2014, and received several awards among which the price of “Start-up of the Year” for most promising new business in Belgium, BEST Designer FOotwear label in Belgium 2019, TOP 100 Fashion industry influencers 2021.
